NEW MEMBERS ORIENTATION LESSON 2

THE COMPLEX UNITY OF G-D

There is no simple way to explain the complex unity of G-d, however the Bible says much about it, starting from Genesis 1:1-3 where we see G-d, His Word, and His Spirit.  Deuteronomy 6:4 , John 15:26 , 2 Corinthians 13:14 , Ephesians 1:17

Man is made in the image of G-d, as spirit, soul, and body.

All of us are a complex creation, made in the image of G-d.  The Bible talks about our spirit, our soul, and our body.  Genesis 2:7 , 35:29, Exodus 35:21 , Numbers 14:24 , Judges 15:19 , Job 20:3 , 32:8, 33:4, Psalm 31:5 , 146:4, Proverbs 17:22 , Ecclesiastes 8:8 , 12:7, Daniel 6:3 ,  Zech. 12:1 , Mt. 5:3, 26:41, Mark 2:8 , 8:12, 14:38, Luke 1:80 ,  2:40, 23:46, 24:39, Acts 7:59 , 1 Cor. 7:34 , 1 Thess. 5:23, James 2:26 , Hebrews 4:12

We are commanded to love G-d with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength.  Deuteronomy 6:5 , Matthew 22:37 , Mark 12:30-33

G-D IS OUR FATHER

There is a part of G-d which no man has seen nor can see, and another part of G-d which is revealed to man.  Exodus 33:20 , Deuteronomy 5:24-26 , John 1:18 , 5:37-47, 6:46, 12:28-30, 1 Timothy 6:16

Yeshua got His marching orders from that part of G-d which is unseen, Whom He called the Father.  In John 5:17-47 , 6:27-69, 7:16-53, 8:12-59, 9:1-5, 10:15-42, 11:41-42, 12:26-30, 44-50, 13:1-3, 20, 31--32, and chapters 14-17, Yeshua says many things about the Father.  List here some of the things we learn about the Father from His teaching:

How does the Father feel about the Son?  17:23-24  What is the work G-d wants us to do?  6:28-29  What can we learn about G-d's character and nature from 6:32-33 and 37?  What must the Father do in order for us to come to Him?  6:44  What is the Son's assignment from the Father?  John 10:15-18 (See also 11:49-53, 12:27, 32-33)  What is the Father's will?  6:39-40  What are two names we can use for the Father?  8:54  If we believe in Yeshua, Whom are we actually believing in?  12:44-45  Whose words did Yeshua speak?  12:48-50
